Welcome to the Tom Dent Tennis site We are dedicated to the memory of Tom Dent and all of the contributions he made in the New Orleans community.
Tom was a lifelong tennis enthusiast. In his twenties, he played competitively throughout the South. An annual tennis tournament,
Memorial Day weekend, is done to pay tribute to his legacy with the
support of Dillard University and the New Orleans Jazz &
Heritage Foundation.

A New Orleans Writer and activist, Thomas Covington
Dent was born on
Charity Hospital in New
Orleans.
He was the oldest of three sons born to Dr. Albert Walter Dent and Ernestine Jessie Covington Dent. His brother's are Benjamin and Walter. Tom loved music, especially the music of the African diaspora.We appreciate the love and support we have received from the Tom Dent Tennis Tournament and we look forward to
continuing the legacy of Tom Dent.
